Task flows refer to the steps users progress through when interacting with patterns. They’re based on specific scenarios and demonstrate how users can successfully perform tasks within each pattern layout. Task flow types

There are two main search flows: basic search and active search. Additional behaviors and features may be implemented within these flows to fit your use case. These additional features are outlined in Behaviors.

Basic search, also known as search and enter, is a task flow that directs users to a distinct results page after they manually submit a query.

Active search, also known as instant or dynamic search, is a task flow that updates search results in real-time as users type their query. This eliminates the need for a separate results page or manually submitting the search.
